The FMSS organises a variety of events throughout the year designed to facilitate social interaction amongst the cohort, in addition to providing an opportunity for students to relax and maintain a balanced lifestyle throughout the their studies.
(Please note partners are welcome and encouraged to attend at all events.)
Some of the events are as follows:
Orientation Week
The official welcome for all new students. Spanning over 9 days, events include: welcome drinks, pubcrawl, free lunch BBQs, quiz night, and a beach day.
MedCAMP
Held at the start of the year, this weekend is filled with activities (eg sports day), food and fun. All year levels are welcome. Students emerge from this experience with newly formed friendships.
MedBALL
The most prestigious event of the year. Time to suit and frock up. Over 300 people come together for one night of fun, festivities and entertainment.
End of Exams After-Parties
FREE ENTRY. Convenient city venue with drink specials and non-alcoholic options. Come let your hair down and enjoy a beverage or two following another arduous set of exams.
FMSS Sports Week
5 days of competition between GEMP 1 and GEMP 2 raising money for a worthy charity (TBC)! Sports include AFL, Soccer, Netball, Volleyball and Basketball, culminating in an after party/awards presentation at the end of the week. Captains of each team will guide their year level into or heartbreaking defeat.
FMSS Wine Tour
Early October 2011 in Mclaren Vale Wine Region (date and winery’s TBC). This event was a hit last year and will be on a Sunday include free wine tastings, transport and a gourmet lunch. Tickets will be around $40 per person.
FMSS Beach Afternoon
Held at the beginning and end of the year, in the pristine summertime of Adelaide. FREE BBQ lunch provided. A chance for those to bring along family and friends and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
Combined End of Year Party
In the first of its kind, the FMSS will host the first GEMPI/II/III/IV end of year party will potentially over 400 people in attendance. Details to be confirmed, however don’t miss out on this!
Graduation Week
Organised by a dedicated graduation committee, this week marks the final celebration for students after four years of enduring study. Comprised of several activities and a graduation ball, it allows students to let their hair down and reflect on their time at Flinders.
